The canvas thick texture and chalky preparation are obvious Neapolitan production, and can be dated during the seventeenth century. The presence, in the left-lower corner, a mark can easily read as ” EQ • S [the first two letters fragmented , intertwined] R.co ” (fig. 2), together with the response of the executive and characters style of the painting, makes certain to be facing an autograph work by Giuseppe Recco (Naples , 1634 – Alicante , 1695 ).
